Cold & Windy
It is getting crazy here at the Leona Divide 50 Miler. Lots of people and they look super fit. The parking is over taking lake Hughes and people are still coming.
Guess the timing system is state of the art stuff by innovative timing systems.
I like the shirts because they have the race logo and nothing else. No sponsor ads all over the back of it.

Real nice having it in the community center. Got my number, shirt and leggings. I am #189 and they have chip timing.
Looks they will be having lots of cameras out on the course too.
Now I hope to rest up a bit before the 6am start.
The looks I get at check in are priceless btw!

Stockdale’s Blake Haney is the fastest freshman in the 800, 1600 and 3200. His 1600 of 4:16.54 is the second best in state history and he has also run 1:57.52 in the 800 and 9:31.80 for the 3200. No other freshman is number one in three events.

In the boys 800, Stockdale freshman Blake Haney leads the way with a 1:57:52 which is the third best time in the valley. Also in the top ten is his senior team mate Stephen Burke (1:59.37) who is ranked 8th and Frontier senior Caleb Barger who is ranked fourth with a time of 1:57.71.

Hopefully a week from now I am driving home from the Leona Divide 50 Miler with a Finisher’s medal. The race starts at 6am and the cutoff is 7pm.
15:36 pace seems doable but there is 9000 foot of elevation change to go with the 50 miles.
Do not know if someone as big as me can physically go that fast for that long but I guess I will find out.

Tomorrow is the last tune up before my very first trail 50 Miler. I am doing the Sycamore Canyon 30k with my run campers to test out my fitness and running gear one last time.
Then next Saturday is the Leona Divide 50 Miler!
